Shelters and cabinets are the physical environment backup power and telecom equipment live in — and how they’re installed shapes everything that happens inside them. A cleanly built enclosure makes the equipment install straightforward, the site easy to service, and the whole thing likely to pass inspection; a sloppy one causes problems for years. FTCI handles both the enclosure and the equipment stuffing that fills it, across telecom and utility sites.
This work is part of FTCI’s backup power builds, and it draws on in-house experience working efficiently in the tight, constrained spaces these installations usually happen in. The goal on every one is the same: a clean, organized install that holds up through inspection and through years of use.

Backup power and telecom equipment is housed in one of two ways, and FTCI installs both — sized and suited to what the site needs.
Equipment Shelters
Shelters are walk-in structures that house a site’s equipment — power plant, batteries, transport, and radios — in a controlled environment. Setting and building out a shelter is the foundation the entire site is assembled on, which makes getting it placed and prepared correctly the starting point for everything that follows.
Outdoor Cabinets
Where a full shelter isn’t needed, outdoor cabinets house equipment in a compact, weather-rated enclosure. They pack a lot into a small footprint, which puts a premium on installing and populating them cleanly — there’s no spare room to absorb a disorganized build.
Equipment Stuffing And Cable Management
Stuffing is the physical build-out inside. Populating a shelter or cabinet means installing racks, mounting equipment, and setting the power and grounding infrastructure it connects to. Done well, everything lands where it belongs with room to work and to grow; done poorly, the space fights every future change.
Cable management is what makes it last. How cable is routed, dressed, and labeled determines whether a site can be serviced quickly or becomes a puzzle years later. FTCI dresses and manages cable cleanly from the start, because the difference between a tidy install and a tangled one shows up every time someone has to work in that space again.
